March 2015: Working in partnership with Age Concern Carlton we ran two IT courses over several weeks
November 2014 : In collaboration with Eastwoods ‘Make A Difference’ group (funded by Community First) we ran a series of short IT courses and sessions at the Sun Inn.
March 2016: Our new centre on Nottingham Road in Eastwood opens, offering a range of workshops and classes every Thursday, Friday and Saturday
September 2017: We suspended classes and courses to focus on the more popular one-
April 2017: Relocated from 32 Nottingham Road to 34 Nottingham Road, Eastwood.

Newthorpe IT was established by myself, Mike Smith, in 2013. The aim of the business was to provide local IT advice, support and training to my local community in which I’ve lived and worked.
I’ve worked in education/IT training & IT support in the East Midlands for nearly thirty years, from the days when the personal computer was first making its breakthrough into the mass market.
My experiences cover numerous primary schools, secondary schools (Eastwood & Kimberley), colleges (Broxtowe, South East Derbyshire & Derby) and universities (Derby & Loughborough) some in the capacity of IT teaching and others in the role of IT support/development/management.

The geographical areas we cover
Working from our base in Newthorpe, our primary coverage is the NG16 area in Nottinghamshire, and Amber Valley & Erewash over the border in Derbyshire -
What we don’t do..
We don’t sell computers. We are not a hardware/PC repair company so if you have a broken or faulty machine then you need to look elsewhere. Neither do we undertake hardware upgrades -

Our services break down into two broad categories. These are giving advice & support for PC related queries or issues, and providing classes and training. We do this either one-
Newthorpe IT works in partnership with various local groups & charities to promote the use of IT across all areas of the community, where currently there is no known provision. Our four target areas are:
We have worked with Age Concern Eastwood, and Age Concern Carlton, offering introductory IT sessions to complete beginners. We also worked with Eastwoods ‘Making A Difference’ community group and Town Centre Management (Broxtowe Borough Council) to provide free introductory IT sessions in Eastwood during November 2014.
